STUDY IN THE USA, UK & CANADA
The Safir Company is dedicated to quality cross-cultural education. We provide Moroccans with counseling services to help them apply to universities in the USA, UK, Canada, and elsewhere in the English-speaking world.
Throughout the program, students are paired with one of our American University Counselors. Students meet with their Counselor twice per month on average, and are guided through the whole process of applying to foreign universities. Counselors help students select ten universities, to diversify students’ options. Counselors help their Moroccan students understand the different systems of university applications, prepare essays, and apply for financial aid as well.

LANGUAGE PROGRAM CURRICULUM & SCHEDULE
2017 – 2018 Academic Calendar
We offer a variety of Arabic and Amazigh language courses to fit your individual needs. Within each dialect, there are four levels: Beginner, Low Intermediate, High Intermediate, and Advanced. While Beginner and Low Intermediate levels focus on the foundational elements of the language, High Intermediate and Advanced levels are conversational.
Learners are divided by level. Anyone entering Safir with previous Arabic or Amazigh language experience will be required to take an in-house LPI with a certified instructor.
Moroccan Arabic
Our Moroccan Arabic courses are designed for those who are looking to begin or advance their communicative abilities. Using the Peace Corps Morocco textbook, learners will acquire a range of useable knowledge that is directly related to their context in Morocco. Transliteration and the Arabic alphabet will be taught, although the course trajectory will move towards Arabic alphabet-use only. An LPI will be administered at the end of each level.
Modern Standard Arabic
Our Modern Standard Arabic courses are designed for those who are looking to begin or advance their reading, writing, and communicative abilities. Using the Al Kitaab series, our instructors will bring to life the academic content while bridging this language with its real-world application. The Arabic alphabet will be taught from the beginning and used exclusively. An LPI will be administered at the end of each level.
Tachelhit and Tamazight
Our Tachelhit and Tamazight courses are designed for those who are looking to begin or advance their communicative abilities. Elizabeth Jay
Elizabeth is a University Counselor at the Safir. She comes to us after serving in the Youth Development sector of the US Peace Corps for the past four years in a small community located in the mountains just outside of Marrakech. Before she came to Morocco, she was an adjunct professor at the University of Indianapolis, teaching “Intro to Sociology” and “Social Problems” courses. She holds a BA in Sociology and Anthropology from DePauw University (with a minor in French) and an MA in Applied Sociology from the University of Indianapolis. Much of her academic background focused on women and cross-cultural examinations of society. This greatly influenced her decision to join Peace Corps and work with disadvantaged populations across the country, namely girls and women. She is passionate about helping youth and is eager to put her energies towards helping Moroccan students who wish to study abroad. Working as a speech and writing counselor during her undergraduate, paired with her personal experiences applying for universities and study abroad programs, has given Elizabeth the proper tools and training to give students a competitive edge when filling out applications, editing essays, and applying for scholarships. Elizabeth currently resides in Morocco.
